¹⁸ to Abraham as his property. This was done in the presence of all the Hittites, who were assembled at the gate of the city. ¹⁹ After this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave in the field at Machpelah near Mamre (that is, Hebron), in the land of Canaan. ²⁰ The field and the cave that is in it were deeded to Abraham by the descendants of Heth as his property to be used as a burial site.
